Timothy Cardinal Dolan to celebrate Mass at Holy Hill on April 28
The former Archbishop of Milwaukee, now Archbishop of New York, Timothy Cardinal Dolan will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at our Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians on April 28, 2012. All the public are invited.
His Eminence (to-Be) was responsible for petitioning the Holy See to recognize the National Shrine as a minor basilica. The friars here remember well when on July 16, 2006, the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Archbishop made his surprise announcement that the Shrine Church would be raised to the dignity of minor basilica. The basilica was formally dedicated by Archbishop Dolan on Sunday, November 19, 2006 (the memorial of the Discalced Carmelite, St. Raphael Kalinowski, OCD). (If you haven't visited it already, you can check out the Shrine's website at www.holyhill.com.)

We Discalced Carmelite Friars at Holy Hill are delighted to welcome the newly-created Cardinal Dolan back to the holy place he often visited and affectionately called "Mary's House." May Mary, the Help of Christians and Queen of Apostles, protect and strengthen the new Cardinal in his continued ministry both as Archbishop of New York and president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and also in his new service to the Holy Father as member of the College of Cardinals.
